I can’t believe it took me this long to discover your website! Your books have been dear to me and to the children with whom I share them. I’m in my 46th year of teaching. As a Sp Ed Director, Sp Ed Teacher (K-12) and as a Librarian (K-12) in our small Idaho school district, I continue to share and encourage my students to experience life, literacy and ART! Thanks for such a wonderful site. I’m showing my Library Assistant some of your great ideas tomorrow. Oh, may, I suggest that you consider pursuing some Native American inspirations for future efforts? Or, perhaps the sagebrush deserts or camas prairies, the forests or mountains of Idaho might inspire next steps? We’ve many special creatures out here. Of course I think they are very cute and clever. Marmots, coyotes, owls, cotton tails, foxes, hawks…the list is long! No matter…I’ll always look forward to whatever your next book will bring to the children and to me! Kay Taylor, Richfield, Idaho

I just returned home from your wonderful program and book signing at Hastings in Farmington, NM. Who would have thought we would be so honored! You are such an inspiration to children and adults in our schools. Thank you for sharing your talents over and over again through your beautiful books. And I forgot to tell you in the excitement of meeting you and having our picture taken with my granddaughter that I absolutely LOVE your pussywillow bunnies in The Easter Egg!!! Thank you and have a blessed Easter. Denise Evans, Farmington, New Mexico

    Hi Ms. Brett,

I just wanted to tell you that I read AND enjoyed your interview in Runner’s World magazine. I also write for children, I homeschool my kiddos and I’m a slower-than-molasses runner. It was nice to see another writer in the magazine and make the connection that, “YES! I can do this, too!”

I hope all your writing, edits AND runs are smooth sailing this year!

    peace,
    Donna Earnhardt

We are again at the end of our author study of you and all your lovely books. My first graders are anxious for me to begin writing in your blog: Ms. Barreto’s class said” Your pet hedgehog is cute. We loved seeing him in your video. Wow! You wrote a lot of books! We love all of your books that Mrs. Thomas read. Our class favorite is Hedgie Blasts Off! We also enjoyed learning from your website. Someday we would like to be able to draw like you do.”

Ms. Scoffield’s class said,”We love your books. We think some of your books are funny. We liked the action when the polar bear chased the trolls in Who’s that Knocking on Christmas Eve. We also liked the funny and action parts in Trouble with Trolls. We thought Hedgie Blasts Off! was exciting. We loved to see your hedgehog on the internet. We colored a picture of Hedgie riding a bike, then we talked about being safe when we play outside. We enjoyed coloring a lot of your pictures.

Ms. Bivona’s class said, “We love your books. We have a lot of your books in our library. Mrs. Thomas said she will get some more soon. Hedgie Blasts Off! is our class favorite. We are your biggest fans. We would like you to come visit our school. Are you going to have another contest? We hope we win a visit from you.

Ms. Lara’s class said, ” We really like your books a lot! Our class voted and we liked Who’s that Knocking on Christmas Eve? the best. We love the way you make your pictures. We saw some of your videos when you were drawing your animals. We really like Hedgie a lot. Are you going to make another book about Hedgie? Maybe Hedgie can go to Paris, France and climb the Eiffel Tower.”

    Dear Ms. Brett:

I just wanted to say how much my pre-k daughter and I have enjoyed Hedgie. We have a Hedgie Book and have colored many Hedgie coloring pages. I found it interesting, as I read about your Martha Stewart visit, that you are fond of chickens. As a soon to be new childrens author withTate Publishing, I thought it amusing that the first story in my collection of stories is about the Cornstalk family who happen to be chickens. I’m sure you would love Roberta and Mildred Cornstalk, their brother Edward, Mama and Papa Cornstalk, and their pleathora of other animal friends.
